Dennis J. Dowling, DO, has lectured on the use of OMT to treat flu pandemic symptoms as well as how osteopathic physicians can prepare for when the next flu pandemic strikes. He is a former professor and chairman of the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Department of the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (NYITCOM) in Old Westbury.

A graduate of NYITCOM, Dr. Dowling participated in a satellite radio media tour doing both taped and live interviews about how OMT can be used to treat flu symptoms. He also is available to speak about pain management and about how OMT can be used to relieve children’s cold and flu symptoms as an alternative to or in conjunction with medication. Dr. Dowling is an expert on many forms of osteopathic treatment and has lectured at national conventions and internationally on a wide variety of subjects related to osteopathic medicine.

Dr. Dowling is a former president of the American Academy of Osteopathy and is director of osteopathic manipulative medicine assessment for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners (NBOME) Clinical Skills Testing Center as well as osteopathic medical consultant for the NBOME Osteopathic Performance and Improvement Modules. He has faculty appointments to several osteopathic medical colleges and is Director of Osteopathic Manipulative Services in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at the Nassau University Medical Center on Long Island, N.Y.
